El inicio original de Mamma Mia! es con cortinas azules e iluminación semejando un mar azul. El buzón es parte de la escenografía - foto de la derecha-, en esta adaptación el buzón está fuera de la cortina y se eleva cuando Sofía (Sohpie) pone las cartas a sus 3 posibles  padres.

La Escenografía es muy similar a la original, en la adaptación es muy frágil y no se movía mecánicamente como en la original. En Mamma Mia es más blanca pero los efectos de luces hicieron maravillas.  En esta producción amateur no lucrativa. Sólo estudiantes de Preparatoria en su mayoría.

The beginning was different from the original Mamma Mia! Here, the mailbox fly away when Sofía (Sophie) “posts” the letters for the 3 possible dads.

The stage is truely similar to the original Mamma Mia!. More fragile but with the lighting, it made no differencealthought its movement is not mechanical here very good since it was not a non lucrative production staged by high-school sutudents mostly.

“Sofía” está a punto de interpretar Honey Honey, que relata las aventuras de su mamá según lo dice el diario de “Diana” (Donna en en Mamma Mia! ). En esta adaptación el papel de “Sofía” es tan o más importante que el de “Diana” a diferencia de la obra original, donde Diana es el centro. La voz de esta muchacha que interpreta a Sofía es IMPRESIONANTE y sólo es una adolescente!

“Diana & Las Dínamos” cantan Dancing Queen, aunque aquí nose menciona que que tenían ese grupo de jóvenes. Sólo cantan este tema donde añoran cuando eran jóvenes.  Las voces de todas eran espectaculares.

“Sofía” is about to sing Honey Honey relating her mother diary’s aventures with her lovers. Sofía’s role is such as or even more important as her mother’s “Diana” (“Donna” in Mamma Mia). The voice of Sofía is really IMPRESSIVE althoug she’s a teenager!

“Donna & The Dynamos” (Diana) sing Dancing Queen. They never mention the name of their former musical group, but still sing trying to remember those gone days. The voices of them were simply great.

“¿Sabe tu mamá donde estás?” y todas las demás canciones son prácticamente tomadas de Mamma Mia! Madrid. Sólo frases y palabras son adaptadas a lo mexicano. Los amigos de “Sky “(“Christian” en esta adapación), tienen más presencia que en la original Mamma Mia!

“Sabe tu mamá donde estás?” (Does your mother know?) , Tania (Tanya) plays her part in a very funny way. “

“Sabe tu mamá donde estás?” (Does your mother know?) and all other songs are mostly the spanish version of Madrid’s Mamma Mia! With changes on some words and phrases to fit mexican taste. “Sky”’s  (“Christian” here) friends are more  present than in the original staging.

Tania ( Tanya ) is as funny as in the original version.

“Iván” ( “Pepper” en Mamma Mia! ) baila tan bien como los Pepper de las Mamma Mia! Como la Universidad que apoyó la puesta en escena de estos estudiantes es de una estricta formación católica, no se puso el nombre de “Chili” como en España. Además aparece otro personaje inexistente en la obra original,  “Rolando Flores”.

“Dame, Dame, Dame (Un Hombre esta noche)” fue bailada con mucha energía, la coreografía fue realmente muy buena y parecida a la original-

“Iván” is the name used here for Mamma Mia’s  “Pepper”. Pepper was translated as “Chili” in Spain, but due to a srictly catholic base this University has, it was not used as such but Iván instead.

Quizá tantos o más bailarines que en Mamma Mia!

Dianna (Donna) y Javier (Harry) cantando “Quien a veces llora” (One of Us).

Maybe there were more dancers than in Mamma Mia!

Diana (Donna)and Javier (Harry here) singing “Quien a veces llora” (Who is crying now) the spanish version of One Of Us.

“Diana” , tremenda voz de esta chica de 17 años. 

 Javier también tenía lo suyo. Una voz melodiosa y agradable interpretando "Un verano" (Our last summer), sin embargo aquí no solo cambiaron la letra para justificar que Javier se volvió sacerdote, sino que hasta la música fue cambiada para terminar diciendo "......mi fé!!". Muy bien cantada pero esto pareció un "sampling" y no una canción de ABBA.

Diana had a great voice, just incredible for a 17 year-old.

Javier had also something to give. A tuned-in voice singing "Un verano" (Our last summer), nevertheless, they changed lyrics and musical notes to justify why Javier turned into a priest. They end the song in ohter key and singing "... my faith!!!".Well sung but it was not an ABBA song but a "sampling"..

“Voulez-Vous” escena donde todos quieren asumir su responsabilidad de padres con “Sofía”.

“Sam” dice a Sofía que quiere y va a ser quienla lleve al Altar.

“Voulez-Vous” is the scene where every possible dad wants to be “the dad”.

“Sam” tells Sofía he’ll be the one giving her up at the Altar.

Javier le dice a Sofía que él la casará con Chrisitian (Sky). Por razones de integridad religiosa de la universidad, Javier no es el padre “gay” sino que se volvió sacerdote católico. Sin embargo menciona Javier”

“Samuel” y “Diana” cantando “Va todo al Ganador” (The Winner Takes It All).

Javier tells Sofía he’ll be the one that marries her with Christian (Sky). For the same religious background of this university’s staging, Javier is not let to the “gay” father but a “catholic father”.

Tremenda actuación casi tan buena como la original Mamma Mia!

Diana canta muy bien esta difícil canción.

Finalizando “Va todo al Ganador” Diana pone de pie al público que le regala sus aplausos. Muy emotiva interpretación ¡ Y sólo 17 años, increíble.

Great permormance, as good as in some original Mamma Mia! ‘s.

The end of “Va todo al Ganador” wins a standing ovation. A big voice of only a 17 years old girl.

“Siento que se aleja” (Slipping through my fingers), es transformada en un dueto para aprovechar la mejor voz del show,la de Sofía que canta con Diana. Gran interpretación aunque desgraciadamente la letra fue modificada más que sólo un poco.  

“Te has fijado en mí”  (Take a chance on me), Rosy no se comporta tan “sexy” por las mismas razones ya comentadas, pero es divertidisima la participación de “Rosy de la Rosa” (Rosy en Mamma Mia!). Otro cambio es que las sillas de la iglesia no están en su lugar sino que cada invitado entra con la suya en esta adaptación.

“Siento que se aleja” (Slipping through my fingers), is a duet here to seize the grat voice of Sofía, probably the better voice of the show. Singing alongside with Diana, it ends up great although it was a shamed that the lyrics were changed not just a little..

“Te has fijado en mí” (Have you taken a look at me) is the spanish version of Take a Chance on Me. Rosy doesn’t behave so so “sexy” for the reasons exposed, but her acting is really funny!.

The chairs are not alrady on the set, inthis adaptation the guests get in with a chair in hand.

“Que sí, que sí, que sí” (I do, I do, I do, I do, I do). Por las razones religiosas que ya mencionamos, Sofía y Christian no pueden dejar de comprometerse y aquí los casan. Por tanto hubo 2 bodas en esta adaptación y para Javier.

Fin del Show donde vuelven a interpretar Mamma Mia.

“Que sí, que sí, que sí” (I do, I do, I do, I do, I do) is sung very well. Although here –again- due to the reasons already exposed. Sofía & Christian cannot just live together, they had to marry here, and therefore 2 weddings were performed by Javier.

End of the show, performing Mamma Mia once again.

Dancing Queen intepretada nuevamente con sus trajes llamativos, cerrando justo como se hace en Mamma Mia!

Waterloo es cantada en español pero fue imposible entender qué es lo que cantaban.

Dancing Queen is sung again by all members, and coloured suites just like they do in Mamma Mia!

Waterloo is performed in spanish, that was a bonus but it was impossible to understand what they were singing.

De negro Juan Vilas,un gran impulsor y visionario de este tipo de eventos universitarios que fomentan las artes entre su estudiantado. Esla persona que nos permitió elaborar este reporte. Agradecemos profundamente las facilidades, boletos para este evento no lucrativo –fue un evento por invitación - , gracias también por permitir el  ingreso a los ensayos, posters e inmensa generosidad para con ABBAGDL.

Juan Vilas explicando que este es el único musical amateur -de los que han puesto - dos años seguidos ( 2006 & 2007 ) por aclamación popular, pero anunciando que es la última vez porque tienen otros proyectos en puerta.

Dressed in black, Juan Vilas, a visionary, the person who promotes these events reaching for an integral development of the students members of this university, events that give a great arts display as all instruments, choirs, dancing and singing was made by all them. We thank deeply him for letting ABBAGDL attend, every show, rehearsals, the tickets ! as they were only for selected guests of this non profitable show. Thanks for everything.ity.

Juan Vilas telling that this was the only amateur musical of all they have staged, that was performed two years in a row ( 2006 & 2007 ) due to general acclaim but telling that this is the last time for Mamma Mia as they have to try some other things in the future.
